Introduction to Hand Building

Many people want to come to the studio to create a functional piece of pottery. Throwing clay on the wheel is a skill that takes time and practice, but hand building offers a means of making a functional piece during a single session. During this session, we will make a mug using the slab technique. We will learn some different ways of making and attaching handles, and the limit is your imagination when it comes to the shape, style and decoration of your mug. The mugs will then be left here to be glazed and fired, for you to collect when they are ready! We can also arrange to post pieces back to you.
